The area of the research

„Greater-Kecskemét” is the term used for the historic Kecskemét, i.e. the area before the administrative reform of 1950; that area included the territory of the town Kecskemét, furthermore the territories of the villages Ágasegyháza, Ballószög, Bugac, Helvécia, Hetényegyháza, Lakitelek, Matkópuszta, Méntelek, Nyárlőrinc, Szentkirály, Városföld. Kiskunság is a sub-region identified in terms of  historic-ethnographic characteristics; the research covers that part of this area which belongs to the administrative unit Bács-Kiskun County; i.e. the following towns and villages: Fülöpszállás, Jakabszállás, Jászszentlászló, Kerekegyháza, Kiskunfélegyáza, Kiskunhalas, Kiskunmajsa, Ladánybene, Lajosmizse, Móricgát, Orgovány, Petőfiszállás, Szank.
